Compare 2022 Ford F-150 vs. the 2022 Chevy Silverado

The 2022 Ford F-150 vs. the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 - Which Full-Sized Pickup is Right for You?

At Burt Watson Auto Group, we're proud to be the dealership destination for Freeland and Saginaw drivers who are looking around for a great vehicle with style and power. We specialize in bringing several world-renowned auto brand names to drivers in our area, and we can help you narrow down your choices to select the perfect fit for your needs.

Two of the most popular brands in our collection, and two of the most well-known names in the country, Chevrolet and Ford are both beloved for their impressive capability and reliability. If you're in the market for a full-sized pickup truck, these brands have multiple options, and our team is here to help you tell them apart and choose your best fit.

Take the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado 1500, for example. On the surface, these two great trucks have a lot in common. But dive a little deeper, as we have, and you'll find that one might be better suited for your specific needs than the other. Let us explain.

Utility

Both of these impressive trucks give Bay City drivers the level of performance and power they need for towing, hauling, and more. Perfect for work or play, the Ford F-150 has a maximum towing capacity of around 12,700 pounds, while the Silverado 1500 tows up to 13,400 pounds.

When it comes to combined cargo and passenger payload capacity, look for up to 3,325 pounds for the Ford F-150 and 2,250 pounds for the Silverado 1500.

Performance

With a variety of great powertrain options between them, it's easy to customize your ride and get the level of power you're looking for from either model. The F-150 has a menu that includes six great engine options, while the Silverado 1500 gives you a choice between five engine possibilities.

Depending on what you're looking for, each truck has something unique to offer. If you love the efficiency and power of a diesel engine, the Chevrolet truck is the way to go, thanks to its 277-horsepower diesel six-cylinder option. Comparatively, the Ford F-150 has no diesel option. But what the F-150 does have that the Silverado 1500 does not is a hybrid alternative. It produces 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque.

New for 2022, one thing you can count on both models for is electric engineering. Starting this year, an all-electric F-150 called the Lightning is hitting dealerships across the country, and a Silverado 1500 EV model is also expected.

Interior

Custom tailor your pickup using a variety of great cab styles and get a spacious interior that's comfortable regardless of the configuration you choose. Both the Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150 are available in multiple cab styles, including two-door regular cab models, four-door crew cab models, and four-door extended cab models.

While the exterior dimensions are nearly identical regardless of the style you choose, the interiors can vary slightly. For example, a crew cab Ford F-150 has more space in the front seat than the Chevy Silverado 1500, with slightly more headroom and legroom. But the Silverado 1500 has a little more room in both headroom and legroom for backseat passengers.

Meet Both Legendary Trucks for a Test Drive to Decide

With a longstanding reputation for excellence backing each iconic pickup, choosing the best one for your needs will come down to your personal preference and what you're looking for in a new set of wheels. To make the best decision, we suggest taking them both for a test drive and see which one fits you best. Contact our team soon to learn more and to arrange your pickup truck test drive appointment in the Bay City area.
